TCB starts selling essentials in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jul 8 (BSS): Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling essentials in open markets aimed at keeping the essentials' prices stable during the holy month of Ramzan.
The state-run trading started the selling at two major Points -- Shaheb Bazar Zero Point and Railway Gate -- using two trucks on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Abdul Hannan inaugurated the programme.
Meanwhile, ahead of the holy month, the unscrupulous businessmen and other opportunist groups artificially hiked the prices of essentials in retail markets in the metropolis.
"The greedy businessmen have started doing the malpractice with an deliberate motive to get hefty profit by creating artificial crises," said Jashim Uddin, a grocery retailer at Shaheb Bazar, a commercial hub of Rajshahi city.
He stated that prices of most of the essential consumer items like rice, edible oil, poultry birds, egg, pulse and vegetables are soaring.
Talking to the newsmen Abdus Salam, TCB local office chief, said that they will start selling different types of consumer items including pulses, edible oil, sugar, grams and dates in fixed price through 91 appointed dealers in all 30 wards of the city before the Ramadan.
From now on, he said the dealers would have to sell pulse at Taka 70 per kg, sugar at Taka 50, edible oil at Taka 121 and grams at Taka 66.
