Workers of a tea garden flew into fury and put up barricade on Osmani International Airport Road in Sylhet following death of a fellow in a road accident at Choukidekhi in the north-eastern divisional city on Friday, halting traffic for three hours. Locals said Anil Kurmi Sadhan, 36, a Hindu devotee and a worker of Malinichhara Tea Garden, was killed when a stone-laden truck ran over him while he was going to Chandnighat in the city to attend immersion of Hindu goddess Durga around 6:30pm on Friday. Another female devotee was injured in the accident and she was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. As the news of Anil’s death spread around, workers of the tea garden rushed in and blocked Osmani Airport Road around 7:00pm in protest. They withdrew the road blockade around 10:00pm as police intervened, according to a news agency.
