RAJSHAHI, Jun 25 (BSS): Two teachers and an office clerk of a madrasa in Rajshahi were jailed on charges of defalcation of students stipend money today.
Razzaqul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Paba and Executive Magistrate, conducted a mobile court in Darul Ihsan Dhakil Madrasa at Joypur Budhpara village and found its
Superintendent Abdul Matin, Assistant Teacher Rejaul Karim and clerk Ismail Hossain guilty of the charge and sentenced them.
Abdul Matin and Ismail were sentenced to six months jail while Rejaul Karim to two months.
District Education Officer Muktadir Ahmed, who was present during the mobile court operation, told journalists that they were long been disbursing Taka 680 as sub-stipend to each of the students instead of their allocated Taka 1020. In collaboration with each other they were misappropriating the rest money.
Subsequently, the mobile court handed the convicted persons to Motiher Police Station for sending them to jail.
