NILPHAMARI, Jul 2: Water in the Teesta river is flowing 24 centimeters above danger mark in Teesta barrage point due to heavy rain in the upstream of the river. As a result 15 villages of 10 union prishads has been affected by flood.
The affected UP's are Purbo Satnai, Khoga Khoribari, Tepa Khoribari, Chatnai, Jhunaghar Chapani, Goyabari in Dimla upazila and Golmunda, Dowabari, Showalmari and Koymari U.P of Jaldhaka upazila. While contacted UP member of Khalisa Chpani Ramjan Ali said knee deep water engulfed the entire area in the said villages.
While contacted Chairman of Purbo Chatnai U.P of Dimla upazila Abdul Latif Khan said 14 families of the Char (shoal) area have to take shelter in the other areas as their homes have been affected by river erosion. While contacted Executive Engineer of Water Development Board (WDB) of Dalia area Mahbubar Rahman said all the gates of Teesta barrage has been opened to face the situation.
