Teknaf Land Port earns over Tk 109m revenue

COX'S BAZAR, Oct 05: The Teknaf Land Port earned over Tk 109 million revenue last month.

According to sources, traders imported different items worth Tk 647 million against 360 bills of entries from Myanmar through Teknaf Land Port in September.

At the same time the land port exported goods worth Tk 17 million against 55 bills of exports to Myanmar.

Revenue Officer of Customs Department, Teknaf Land Port Absar Uddin told this correspondent that National Board of Revenue (NBR) fixed revenue income Tk 70.5 million in September. But revenue income reached to Tk 109 million.

Officials of the land port said number of the import and export goods increased in last month and most of the traders were involved in business. So revenue income increased in September over the previous month.

Under border trade, contract traders import rice, fish, wood, cow, buffalo, goats, pickle, plum, tamarind and different spices fruits from Myanmar. They export clothes, aluminum, sanitary goods and human hair to Myanmar.

Shah Porir Dip Corridor earned revenue of Tk 3.18 million from cow and buffalo import from Myanmar last month. Some 2,891 cows and 3,480 buffaloes were imported from Myanmar through the corridor in September, sources said.

Meanwhile, Teknaf Land Port earned revenue more than Tk 90 million in August last.
