KHULNA, Feb 12 (UNB): A 45-year old woman was allegedly raped by thieves at Rauli village Paikgachha upazila in Khulna district early Monday.

Victim's family said on Sunday night, some unidentified men entered the bedroom of the woman breaking the door of the stairs. Later, they tied the hands and feet of the housewife, sprayed superglue on her eyes and covered her mouth with tape and violated her.

The rapists also hit on different parts of her body, they said. The thieves fled with a pair of gold earrings and approximately Tk 0.2 million (2 lakh), family members claimed.

Hearing her screams, the neighbours came and informed her husband.

The victim's husband said that his wife was unable to speak as the rapists sprayed super glue on her eyes and mouth. "So it is not possible to say how many thieves were there," he added.

Assistant Superintendent of Police D-Circle Md. Saiful Islam said that they visited the spot after receiving the information.

Obaidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Paikgacha Police Station, said that they rescued the housewife with her hands and feet tied.

"It is not possible to say whether she was raped or given superglue. We visited the spot, and a high-level investigation has started," added the officer.
