Three brothers die in collapse of Meghna embankment

NOAKHALI, June 23 (UNB): Three brothers died as they got stuck in mud following the collapse of an embankment on the bank of the Meghna River in Keringchar Saheban Bazar area of Hatia upazila on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Riyad (10), Jihad (7) and Rahat (5), sons of Mohammad Hasan Miah, a resident of Hajji village in the area.

The three minor boys were missing from Monday afternoon after they went out of their home for catching fish, said Mohammad Nurul Huda, officer-in-charge of Hatia Police Station.

On Tuesday morning, local fishermen spotted their bodies on the riverbank.

Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies.
