NARAYANGANJ, Oct 17 (BSS): Two children drowned in the River Meghna in Araihazar upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The dead are Md Adnan (4) and Md Abdullah (4). They were the residents in Bishnandi Purbo Para area in the upazila.
Local people said they drowned in the river around 12:30 pm while taking bath with their uncle Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, In Jamalpur, a minor girl drowned in a pond at a village under Bakshiganj upazila in the district on Tuesday morning.
The victim was identified as Morium Aktar (5), daughter of Md Babul Miah at Merurchar Uttarpara village under Bakshiganj upazila of the district.
According to the police, Morium along with another minor girl went to a nearby pond (ditch) to pluck hyacinth flower at her aunt house at village Bhati Kolkihara of the same upazila. Suddenly, both the girls fell in the ditch.
Hearing the news, local people rescued one but Morium was drowned. Police said Moriom went to her aunt house with her grandmother on Sunday.
