Three including expat killed in road crashes

An Australian expatriate was killed as a motorcycle hit him when he was crossing the road in Kakrail area in the city on Tuesday, report agencies.
The dead is Joseph Gomez (56), son of Gillbard from Mulashi-kanda village under Nababganj thana in Dhaka district.
Jony Gomez, elder brother of the deceased, said Joseph lives in Australia with his wife and two daughters. He came to Bangladesh three months earlier and stayed in his brother's house at Kakrail Circuit House Secretary Road in the city.
The accident took place at Sugandha intersection in fornt of VIP gate of Ramna Park around 9:30 pm on Tuesday. Police rescued and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:00
pm, said Md Bacchu Mia, in-charge of (DMCH) police outpost.
The body was kept at DMCH morgue for postmortem and necessary legal action has been taken in this regard, he said.
In the incident, police arrested the motorcycle driver Redwan (21) and the pillion rider Junaid Hossain Shahel (21), said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramna thana Md. Uzzal Hossain.
In Madaripur, a 60-year-old man and his son were killed when a covered van hit a three-wheeler on Madaripur-Shariatpur regional highway at Mather Bazar in Sadar upazila of Madaripur district on Tuesday evening.
The deceased were identified as Mahadeb Pal and his son Mithun Pal (28), of Tekerhat village in the
upazila.
The accident occurred in the evening when the covered van hit a three-wheeler, leaving them dead on the spot, said Salauddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
