Three killed in Dinajpur, Bogura, Chapainawabganj road accidents

Three people were killed in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Bogura, Chapainawabganj district on Saturday, report agencies.

In Dinajpur, a 25-year-old-youth died and three others sustained injuries as a speeding passenger bus rammed into two bikes carrying them from behind on Dinajpur-Rangpur Highway in Sadar upazila of Dinajpur on Saturday.

Deceased Munna was son of Momtaz of Bhabki in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur while the identities of the injured could not be known but they were admitted to local M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.

Dulu Mia, sub inspector of Kotwali police station, said the accident occurred around noon when the bus knocked down the bikes from behind on the highway in front of Cotton Development Board in Ramdubi area, leaving one dead and three injured.

The injured were sent to the Abdur Rahim Medical Hospital, he said, adding that the bus could be seized but its driver and helper managed to flee.

In Bogura, a motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road accident on the Bogura-Natore highway in front of Farid Vulcanising near Selina Pump in Nandigram Municipal under Nandigram upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Bharat Chandra Barman, 26, son of Sheetal Chandra, resident of Nautika village under Khetlal Police Station in Joypurhat district.

The accident occurred when Bharat Chandra hit a covered van standing in front of Farid Vulcanizing near Selina Pump as he was returning home from Natore on his motorcycle around 9am, he died on the spot, and another was injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nandigram Kunderhat Highway Police Station Abbas Ali said.

The injured was admitted to the Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, he said.

Police seized the covered van and motorcycle.

Police recovered the body from the spot, the OC added.

In Chapainawabganj, a passenger of an auto-rickshaw was killed as a truck hit the rickshaw in Bahalabari area on the Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway under Shibganj upazila of the district on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Hoque, 50, son of late Afsar Ali, a resident of Choto Chakghorapakhia village of the upazila. Police said, immediately after the accident, seriously injured Enamul was rushed to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibganj Police Station Chowdhury Zobayer Ahmed confirmed the matter.
