Three killed in separate incidents in Pabna

PABNA, Jun 17: Three persons were killed in separate incidents in two upazilas in Pabna Monday.

A youth died from electrocution at village Chandpur under Debottar union in Atghoria Upazila of the district Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam (19), son of Mokhtar Hossain, a resident of the village.

Witnesses said Ashraful was severely injured at about 7.30pm as he came in contact with a snapped electric wire while repairing their house damaged by storm.

Ashraful was being taken to Atghoria Upazila Health Complex but died on way to the hospital.

Atghoria thana police confirmed the death.

In another incident, a minor boy was killed by lightning strike at Satbaria village under Akdanta union in Atghoria Upazila of the district Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Bokul Hossain (8), son of Ershad Ali of the village Satbaria and a student of class one of Durgapur Govt. Primary School.

Locals said, a thunderbolt struck him while he went to field for taking goats at around 6.30pm. He died on the spot.

In another incident, a minor schoolboy drowned in a pond of Sujanagar Upazila of Pabna Monday afternoon.

The victim Shaon (7), son of Shaheb Ali of village Durgapur in the Sujanagar Upazila under the district went to take bath in the pond at about 4.00 pm Monday.

Sujanagar thana police said Shaon drowned in pond as he did not know how to swim. The body of Shaon found floating in the pond.
