Three teenagers drown in Padma River

RAJSHAHI, Apr 23 (BSS): Three teenage friends drowned in the Padma River adjacent to Shyampur area in the city on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Juba Raj, 13, son of Rentu Mian, Nuruzzaman, 14, son of Nur Islam, and Arif Hossain, 15, son of Liton Hossain. All of them were the residents of Bakhrabaj area under Paba upazila. They were also the students of a local Madrasha.

Abu Sama, senior station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the fatal incident occurred when around eight to 10 teenagers got into the river for taking bath. The three adolescents drowned around 1 pm.

On information, divers from the Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and rescued their bodies one after another from 2 pm to 2.45 pm.
