Three-wheeler driver stabbed to death in Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 28 (UNB): A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals over 'establishing supremacy' in Jhaotala area under Khulshi police station of Chattogram on Saturday night, said police.
The deceased was identified as Md Belal, 30.
Locals said that there had long been a dispute between Babul and Mizan groups, both loyal to former Chattogram City Corporation councillor Mohammad Hiron, over controlling CNG-run auto-rickshaws plying on Tigerpass and Jhaotala route.
Babul group, together with another group, stabbed Belal, who was a part of Mizan group, with sharp weapons - leaving him critically injured around 10:30 pm on Saturday night.
He succumbed to his injuries on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Khulshi police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Neyamat Ullah.
The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that drives were on to arrest those who were involved with the murder.
