Tk 1m looted from Joypurhat cold storage

JOYPURHAT, Oct 26 (UNB): Robbers looted Tk one million from a cold storage in Boiragirhat area of Kalai upazila early Sunday injuring six of its workers, including a woman, with bullets.

Jayanta Kumar, accountant of South Pole Cold Storage, said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 18/20, stormed the cold storage and held some of its workers, including a woman, hostage at gunpoint around 1.30am.

As other workers, being equipped with sticks and local weapons, resisted the robbers, they opened fire on them injuring Sirajul Islam, Shah Alam, Mamunur Rashid, Ahedul Islam, Mojammel Haque and Farzuara.
