Tk 48.6m distributed as old age allowance in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Jun 29 (BSS): The government distributed over Taka 48.6 million as old age allowance among 18,031 beneficiaries in the district during the nine months of fiscal year 2013-2014.

The Department of Social Service (DSS) Joypurhat distributed the allowance among elderly men and women at the rate of Taka 300 per month in the district.

The DSS distributed the allowance in four phases and each beneficiary got Taka 3,600 for one-year allowance (July 2013 to June 2014).

Upazila wise beneficiaries are- 4,534 in Sadar upazila, 4,888 in Panchbibi, 2,738 in Akkelpur, 2,439 in Khetlal and 2,761 in Kalai upazila and 671 in Urban Community Development Areas.

Deputy Director of DSS Nur Mohammad told BSS that the beneficiaries have been getting their respective allowance timely through their own bank accounts in a hassle-free manner.
