RANGPUR, Jun 26: Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Wednesday announced annual budget of Tk 5.0014 billion for the fiscal 2014-2015 without increasing the existing taxation rates for the city dwellers.
Rangpur City Corporation (RCC), Mayor Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu announced the budget at a function arranged at ASOD Training Centre conference room in the city in the presence of RCC councilors, officials, local elites and journalists.
Announcing the budget the RCC Mayor said "It is a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic amenities to the city dwellers".
The mayor in his budget speech said that the proposed budget attached special emphasis on infrastructure developments, education, health, social afforestation, removal of water logging, water supply, public toilets and sanitation in the extended areas of the city.
The proposed budget includes income of over Tk 397.5 million from revenue earnings and Taka 4.6038 billion as development assistances from the annual development programmes (ADP), special government allocations and different donor agencies and foreign- assisted projects, he said.
Tree fair begins
Another message from our correspondent says: A fifteen-day-long divisional timber, fruits and medicinal Tree Fair 2014, has begun at local Public Library ground in Rangpur city on Wednesday afternoon.
Rangpur District Administration, Social Forestry Division and Department of Agriculture Extension jointly organised the fair.
Rangpur City Corporation (RCC), Mayor Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu formally inaugurated the fair as chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shahidul Islam, divisional forest officer Shafiqul Islam, Rangpur press club president Fazlul Haq, President of district nursery owners association Saiful Islam were present as special guests. Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahmed presided over the opening ceremony.
