Tk 8.50b development projects taken up in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Apr 16: Rajshahi Development Authority has taken up 13 development projects amounting Tk 8.50 billion (850 crore) to be implemented within a shortest possible time.

Out of these projects, process has started to implement six projects the works of which will be started soon at a cost of Tk 3.50 billion.  Out of these projects, two projects have alrady been approved by Pre-ECNEC and while four others will be implemented from own funds of RDA.

Out of these projects, two major pojects are: 2.2 kilometre long, 80 feet wide Rajshahi Court to Lily Cinema Hall road and five kilometere long and 70 kilometre wide Talaimari-Khorkhori road.

Professor Bazlur Rahman, Chairman of RDA informed, in addition to these projects, RDA has planned a project of construction of two fly overs on railway tracs at a cost of Tk 2 billion.

Meanwhile, RDA has prepared seven more draft projects to be implemented at a cost of Tk 5 billion. Four of the draft projects have already been sent to the concerned ministry for approval.

Moreover, a 10-storied commercial  building is being built at Gourhanga area at a cost of Tk 370 million where the traders affected during extension of Gouhanga-Shaheb Bazaar road will be rehabilitated. In addition, two more residential areas known as 'Bonolata' and 'Baranoi' will also be developed at a cost of Tk 1.10 billion.

Professor Bazlur Rahman further mentioned, RDA has a plan to reconstruct Sheheb Bazaar to Court and Talamari to Belpukur rail crossing into a four lane road and a 10 kilometre long and 80 feet wide Kajla -Halidagachhi road.

He further informed, RDA has also taken up a project at Tk 134 crore 38 lakh to preserve and re-excavate 40 ponds of the city and to construct Tk 250 million nine storied residential and commercial building at Kazihata area.
