Traditional boat race held in Tangail

TANGAIL, Sept 09 (BSS): A traditional boat race was held in a festive atmosphere on the Elengjani River at Chilimpur Union in Tangail Sadar upazila on Monday.

The event, organised by the residents of Baruha village, drew a gathering of nearly 30,000 spectators who thronged both banks of the river to witness the thrilling competition.

Crowds including children, adolescents, women, men and the elderly began assembling by the riverside from early afternoon to enjoy the festivity, which started at 03:00 pm and continued until evening.District BNP General Secretary Advocate Forhad Iqbal attended the event as the chief guest.
