Transport owners, workers demand withdrawal of Boalia thana OC

RAJSHAHI, Mar 11: Several hundred transport owners and workers of Rajshahi took out a procession in the city on Wednesday morning demanding immediate withdrawal of Officer-in-charge of Boalia thana Alamgir Hossain for his alleged corruption.
Mohammad Khokon, Manager of Hanif Enterprise counter at Seroil Bus Terminal said on March 1 two buses of Hanif Paribahan were torched by miscreants in Rajshahi Seroil Bus stand area. Monjur Rahman, an official of Hanif Enterprise, submitted a written complaint with Boalia thana in this regard. But, the Boalia police authorities did not accept the complaint rather ASI Shariful Islam of the same police station filed two cases in this connection-- one for arson and another under explosives control act accusing eight persons in both cases.
Mahtab Hossain Chowdhury, General Secretary of Rajshahi Motor Shramik Union informed, the names which were included as accused in the case filed by ASI Shariful were not mentioned in the complaint lodged by Monjur Rahman rather those were concocted and motivated.
Even after a week of the incident, the Officer-in-charge of Boalia did not agree to change the names and subjects mentioned in the FIR and allegedly demanded taka two lakh from officials of Hanif Enterprise to change the FIR according to their demand, he said
When contacted, Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Boalia thana said managers and workers of Hanf Enterprise were demanding the case be filed seeking Taka 50 lakh as compensation but he agreed to file the case mentioning a compensation of Taka two lakh. As a result, transport leaders and workers were annoyed with him and brought the allegation of kickback against him
