Truckload of sarres seized in Benapole over tax evasion bid

BENAPOLE, Aug 26: Customs officials seized a truckload of sarees in Benapole land port today (Wednesday) on charge of taking an attempt to evade tax amounting to Tk 2.0 million (Tk 20lakh).
The consignment of sarees was being transported from shed No-13 of the port on Tuesday night with the help of the shed in-charge, it is alleged.
According to Benapole Customs sources, a businessman imported 602 packages of various goods from India, under the name of Bhabana Enterprise of Jashore.
