Two crushed under trains in two dists

DINAJPUR, Jan 25 (UNB): A college student died after jumping off a moving train, and being crushed by its wheels in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur on Thursday morning.

The dead is Nur Mohammad Rabbani (28) of Kutubpur village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur. He was a first-year HSC student at Joypurhat Government College.

Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector of Railway Parbotipur thana, confirmed the matter.

Nur jumped off the moving train when it left Birampur Station at 7:15 am on Thursday. He lost control at the time and died under the train's wheels, said the SI.

Meanwhile, In Lalmonirhat, a 40-year-old woman with disability was killed as a commuter train knocked her down at Tushvandar Rail Station of Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj upazila on Thursday.

Deceased Jamila was wife of one Osman Gani in Shrutidhar area of the upazila.

Government Railway Police (GRP) said the accident happened at 12:00 noon when the Burimari-bound commuter train from Lalmonirhat hit Jamila at the station while crossing a rail track, leaving her dead on the spot.

Al Momin, a sub inspector of the GRP station in Lalmonirhat, confirmed the matter, saying that a police team rushed to the spot to recover the body.
