Two die as trawler sinks in Meghna

NOAKHALI, Aug 4 (UNB): Two fishermen died as a trawler capsized in the Meghna River near Thengarchar in Hatiya upazila on Sunday night.

Police recovered the bodies of the unidentified fishermen on Monday morning.

SI Monir Hossain of Hatiya police station said the fishing trawler sank in the river amid storm with 17 people on board around 9 pm.

Fifteen people managed to swim ashore or rescued while two others drowned.

The bodies of the two fishermen were recovered on Monday morning.

Trawler owner Enayetullah confirmed the incident.
