KHULNA, June 16 (BSS): A court on Monday sentenced two youths to life term imprisonment in a drug case under Khalishpur Police Station in the city.
The court also fined the duo Tk 5000 each, in default, to suffer one month more in jail.
Khulna Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sumi Ahmed pronounced the verdict in the absence of two convicts, Shuvendu Roy Chowdhury, bench assistant of the court confirmed.
The convicted persons are Md Nurul Islam Sumon, son of Zahangir Hossain, resident of Banikpara Khanabari area under Daulatpur Police Station and Zwel Mahmud Sagar, son of Sheikh Ashraful Islam, hailed from Mirerdanga area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in the city.
According to court sources, on the night of July 30, 2015, police from Khulna's Khalishpur Police Station received a tip-off that two young men were transporting 40 bottles of Phensedyl in a nylon bag through Khalishpur to Daulatpur.
