Two men held for ‘cheating people’ with fake job offers

RANGPUR, Sept 25 (BSS): The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police has arrested two alleged members of an organised gang of fraudsters over cheating people with false promises to give them jobs in the district on Saturday.

"A special DB police team led by Inspector Md. Mozammel Haque arrested the two from a room at Ayon Residential Hotel in Modern Mour area under Tazhat thana of the city," a press release said on Sunday.

The arrestees are Md Ashiq Iqbal alias Roxy (30) and Md Rocky Islam (21) of village Gosaibari Mohuakhali under Dhunat thana in Bogura district.

The DB police team seized a blank cheque book page issued by Kishoreganj of Sonali Bank Limited in Nilphamari, three blank non-judicial stamp pages valued Tk 100 each, a two-page application for admission to Bangladesh Navy, a notebook with a list of 28 job seekers, five pages containing probable questions and answer sheets and three mobile phone sets from the possessions of the arrested persons.

"After filing a case against the duo, the DB police handed them over to Tahjat thana," the release added.
