Unemployment stands in way of Vision 2021: Mannan

SYLHET, June 6: Meeting the unemployment is the major challenge for achieving the Vision 2021 of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The government has been working for the jobless and poor through strengthening the microcredit programme countrywide, said the State Minister for Finance & Planning MA Mannan.
He was addressing as the chief guest at a regional conference on microcredit programme, organised by the Credit & Development Forum (CDF) at the Bangladesh Bank's conference room in Sylhet Saturday.
Alongside the different government initiatives, a good number of NGOs have been contributing greatly to poverty alleviation through the micro credit programme, he added.
Representatives from different banks and organisations working in microcredit programme took part on it while Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Md. Abul Quashem and Trust Bank managing director Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury addressed as special guests.
Acting General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Sylhet Zulfikar Masud Chowdhury chaired the event while Friends in Village Development, Bangladesh (FIVDB) Executive Director Zehin Ahmed, Habiganj Unnayan Sangstha Executive Director Mohammad Shahin and CDF Executive Director Md. Abdul Awal also addressed. Bangladesh Bank DGM Md. Shakhawat Hossaim Bhuiyan presented a paper.
