FARIDPUR, Aug 26 (BSS): A vast low lying areas situated on the banks of Padma and Arial khan rivers of Sadar, Charbhadrsan and Sadarpur upazillas have been inundated when the water level in river Padma marked a sudden rise with the onrush of flood water from the upstream.
According to BWDB sources, the river Padma is now flowing 28 cm. above danger level. As a regular feature in this time of the year the low areas of eight unions of Sadar, Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan upazillas situated on the river bank were inundated during last four days causing submersion of low laying areas.
The affected unions are North Channel and Decreer Char of Sadar upazilla and Char Jhaukanda,Char Harirampur and Gazirtek of Charbhadrasan upazilla, and Char Nasirpurpur, Char Manair and Dheukhali of Sadarpur upazilla.Official sources said that about few hundred families living in these low laying areas have been affected even the premises of fifty primary schools went under water.
