Vegetable farming in Chuadanga going on in full swing

CHUADANGA, Jul 1 (BSS): Farmers of the district are now passing busy days in cultivating summer vegetables as Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has fixed a target to bring 6,550 hectors of land to produce vegetables in the current season.

District DAE office sources said a total l650 hectors of land have been brought under vegetables cultivation in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, 1,200 hectors in Alamdanga upazila, 1,700 hectors in Damurhua upazila and 2,000 hectors in Jibannagar upazila.

During the first four months of the current summer season till June 30, a total of about 80,000 metric tons of various kinds of summer vegetables have been produced in all the four upazilas of the district.

The cultivation will continue till September 30 next, DAE office said. A total of about 1,30,000 metric tons of various kinds of summer vegetables would be produced in the district during the on-going summer season, the source further said.

The summer season vegetables now being cultivated in the district include brinjal, patal, lalshak, Jhinga, borboti, korola, chichinga, puishak, dherash, papaya, kochu and mishti kumra etc.
