Vegetable farming target exceeds in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Feb 2 (BSS): Farmers in northern Netrokona has cultivated winter vegetables in more land areas than planned expecting to exceed the production target.
Agriculture Extension Department officials of the district told BSS that they expected the farmers to cultivate winter vegetables in 4, 717 hectors of land while they brought under cultivation over 5,000 hectors of land.
"This is expected to exceed the original production target of 91,962 tonnes," deputy director of the department Samir Kumar Sarkar said.
The vegetables cultivated included cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, bean, eggplant, cucumber, carrot, gourd, sweet gourd and radish on 5, 025 hectors of land.
"More than 100,000 tonnes of these vegetables are expected to be harvested in next two months if the weather remains favourable," the official said.
