Veteran journalist Jamir Ahmed passes away

JESSORE, May 23: SKM Jamir Ahmed, a veteran journalist and also one of the founders of Jessore Press Club, died at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital at around 11:15pm on Friday. He was 82.

Mizanur Rahman Tota, former president, Jessore Press Club said that the elder journalist of Jessore had been suffering from old age complications over a month. He was undergoing treatment at CMH, Dhaka.

Jamir started journalism in 1962 as Jessore correspondent of the Morning News and worked for Pakistan Times and Bangladesh Times, Bangladesh Observer, Radio Bangladesh and many other media outlets.

He was the Jessore correspondent of Bangladesh Betar till the moment of death.

Jessore Press Club chalked out a four-day condolence to mark the death of the eminent journalist. Citizens of Jessore expressed their grief at the sad demise of Jamir Ahmed.
