RAJSHAHI, July 9 (BSS): Distribution of 1,462 tonnes rice under special Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) Programme continues in the district to assist the poor in celebrating the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivity, official sources said.
The government through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated the huge quantity of rice for over 0.14 million (1.46 lakh) poor and distressed families in all nine upazilas and 14 pourasabhas in the district.
As per direction and supervision of the district administration, the concerned upazila administrations with assistance of local public representatives and union level committees have been distributing the rice among the listed VGF Card holder families.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Mojibur Rahman told BSS that distribution of the VGF rice will be completed by July 14 next so that the beneficiary poor and distressed families could celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.

The government distributed over 800 tonnes rice under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme among 80,957 poor families of five upazilas in the district on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
District relief and rehabilitation office sources said each family got 10-kg of rice.
Under the programme, 640.130 tonnes VGF rice was distributed among 64,013 beneficiary families in 32 unions of five upazilas and 169.440 VGF rice was distributed among 16,944 beneficiary families in five pourasabhas in the district, said Zila relief and rehabilitation officer Mofakharul Islam.

The government has allocated 0.3 million (3-lakh) tonnes of rice for the distressed and ultra poor people of the district on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.
District relief and rehabilitation office sources said the rice will be distributed to 3,30,794 VGF cardholders of all the ten upazilas and six pourasabhas in the district.
Each of the beneficiaries will get 10 kilograms of rice.
As per direction of the concerned district administrations, the rice is being distributed among the beneficiary families with the assistances of local public representatives, said Zila relief and rehabilitation officer Prokash Chandra Biswas.
