Villagers suffer as 230 CHCPs in Bogura facing accommodation problem

BOGURA, Sept 01: Some 230 Community Health Care Providers (CHCPs) in all the 12 upazilas of the district have been suffering from acute accommodation problem, shortage of medicine, pure drinking water and toilet facilities and unavailable electricity supply.

Sources said most of the buildings of the community clinics have already been declared as abandoned.

The government set up community clinics to ensure standard medicare services to the people.

Sources said that government allocates around Tk 1.1 million for each clinic very year for medicine. But it is not sufficient at all.

In a recent visit at Keut Kuraher community clinic this correspondent found patients from different villages were making gathering in front of the clinic premises to get services.

Hamida Beya of Keut village under Dupchanchia upazila said she came to the clinic for medicine of cold fever.

She said get good service from the centre every time but accommodation problem disrupt the regular activities.

Civil surgeon officials said, "We have informed about the present condition of the community clinics to the authority concerned."
