Volunteers urged to do their best for flood victims

GAIBANDHA, June 15 (BSS): Speakers in a function here recently urged the volunteers to do their great works for the affected people of flood prone areas in the patriotic spirit to reduce their losses.
"As Brahmaputra, Teesta, Karotoa and Ghagot rivers blow through the district, the people of Sundarganj, Sadarpur, Fulchhari and Shaghata Upazilas face flood every year causing their sorrows know no bound", they said.
They said while addressing a volunteers' rally on the premises of Ansar and VDP training centre (SM Barrack) of the town.
Bangladesh Ansar and VDP organised the function under Flood Preparedness Programme funded by Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme in technical support of Bangladesh Disaster Management Centre (BDMC).
Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Ehsan-e-Elahi addressed the ceremony as the chief guest and superintendent of police M. Ashraful Islam was present as the special guest while director of Ansar and VDP, Rangpur range Dulal Chandra Saha presided over the function. The function was also addressed, among others, by district commandant of Ansar and VDP M. Mahabubur Rahman, area coordinator of BDPC Shahidullah Kawsar and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman while Golam Mostafa Ranga was the moderator.
