WED observed in districts

GOPALGANJ, Jun 5: World Environmental Day-2014 was observed with a befitting manner in Gopalganj today.

District administration, Christian Community Development of Bangladesh (CCDB) and Bandhu Chula Programme jointly organised the programme.

Md Khalilur Rahman, DC, Gopalganj spoke as the chief guest while Md A.N.M Moinul Islam, ADC (Gen) presided the chair.

Earlier a colourful rally chanting slogans paraded through the main roads of the city.  

Khulna

Our Correspondent from Khulna reports: The World Environment Day was observed in Khulna as elsewhere in the country today with the slogan "Hote Hobe Shochhar, Sagorer uchata Barobona Ar".

The daylong programmes were observed by various government, non-government, social and voluntary organisations in observance of the day in a befitting manner. A colourful bi-cycle and rickshaw rally was also brought out through the main roads of the city.

Divisional Commissioner (in-charge) Faruk Hossain addressed the meeting as the chief guest and a discussion meeting was also addressed among others by District Council Administrator Sheikh Harun-Ur-Rashid, SP Habibur Rahman, Chairperson of Nagorik Forum Abdul Qaiyum and Press Club President Faruk Ahmed.

Chuadanga

Our Chuadanga Correspondent reports: The World Environment Day-2014 was observed like across the country in Chuadanga district with elaborate programme Thursday.

To mark the day, a colourful rally was brought out from Deputy Commissioner's office premises led by Deputy Commissioner Mr Delwar Hussain, Mr Rashidul Hasan police super, Chuadanga and pouromayor Mr Reajul Islam Joarder which was ended at the same venue after parading different main streets of the district.
