Week-long Rash Mela begins in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 8: A week long Rash Mela, one of the biggest festivals of the Hindu community has begun at Mahiganj Pareshnath temple premises under Rangpur city Friday afternoon.

Assistant High Commissioner of India, stationed at Rajshahi Mr. Sandwip Mitra formally inaugurated the fair as chief guest while president of Rangpur Chamber  of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Mostafa Shohrab Chowdhury Titu, language movement veteran Mir Anisul Haque Peyara were  present as special guests.

Some 30 stalls have been set up in the fair. Different kinds of handicrafts and cottage industry items, handloom products, showpieces, flower items, child toys, food items are being displayed and sold in the fair.

The fair also includes various cultural programmes like Kirton, Rakhal and Radha dance.  

A large number of visitors from different religions are visiting the fair everyday with much enthusiasm.
