Withdrawal of increased trade licence fees demanded

RAJSHAHI, Aug 11: Business leaders in Rajshahi demanded for revocation of the increased fees for trade licence that has been imposed by Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) this year.
The leaders raised their demands at a view sharing meeting with Rajshahi City Corporation authorities at Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) office on Monday afternoon.
The businessmen alleged that RCC authorities increased the trade and premises licence fees. They also extended the renewal fees of trade licence from Tk 500 to Tk 3,000.
Acting mayor of RCC Nizam-ul Azim, councillor of ward no. 18 Manir Hosaain Rinku, business leaders-Sheikh Rezaur Rahman Dulal, Saiful Islam Tuku, Anwar Hossain, Atahar Ali, Abul Kalam Azad, Anjuman Ara, Golam Sarwar Swapan, Liaqat Ali, and Alhaj Harunur Rashid were present on the occasion.
President of RCCI Md. Maniruzzaman Manir chaired the function while director Md. Sekendar Ali conducted it.
Meanwhile, RCC mayor Nizam-ul Azim in his speech said like other city corporations in the country, government has re-fixed the licence fees for the business institutions under RCC in 2015. RCC has nothing to do in this regard.
He told the businessmen that they would have to play a vital role in raising their demands centrally to the government.
