Woman axed to death by husband in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ, Jan 18:  An old woman was beaten and axed to death by her husband at Lossordi village under Araihazar police station Saturday in Narayanganj.

The deceased was identified as Shamsunnahar, 62, wife of Sirajul Islam and a resident of Loskordi village under Araihazar police station in the district.

Police said that on Saturday an altercation occurred between them. At one stage Sirajul Islam hit her with a stick and stabbed with an axe.

Locals recovered her in a critical condition and admitted her to Upazila Health Complex but the on-duty doctor pronounced her death. Police arrested her husband Sirajul Islam and recovered the axe from the spot.
