Workshop on gender based violence opens in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 14: A two-day long training programme on "Sensitisation workshop for media people to combat gender based violence" started here at a local hotel Sunday.

The programme was formally inaugurated by the newly-joined Divisional Commissioner Abdus Samad as chief guest. The objective of the workshop was to introduce the participants with the training curriculum on Media and Gender Based Violence as well as to discuss about the role of media to combat gender based violence.

The programme was organised by 'News Network' and conducted by Saikh Didarul Alam, staff reporter United News of Bangladesh (UNB), Khulna.

Shahiduzzaman, Editor of News Network presided over the inaugural session and delivered the welcome address. The workshop was addressed among others by Farid Hossain, columnist and former AP Bureau Chief, Dhaka, assistant professor Dr. Abdullah Abu Sayed Khan of Khulna University and Rezaul Karim, programme coordinator of News Network.
