Workshop on introduction to promising horticulture tech held in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, June 17 (BSS): A daylong workshop on 'Introduction to promising horticulture technologies of BARI varieties and agro techniques' was held at Breeder seed production centre in Debiganjupazila of the district today.

Debiganj Breeder seed production centre and Strengthening Research on Horticulture Crops and Dissemination of Horticulture and field crop technology at Char land areas project have jointly organised the workshop. The speakers said there is no alternative to increase crop production as our cultivable land is declining and our populations are growing day by day.

We have to produce more nutritious food and Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) is working in this regard, they said.

Sudhendra Nath Roy, additional director of DAE, Dinajpur, addressed the function as the chief guest. Dr Md Abdul Taher Masud, project director and principal scientific officer of Horticulture Research Center of Gazipur spoke at the function as guest of honour.

It was addressed, among others, by the upazila chairman Abdul Malek Chistee and upazila Awami League president Gias Uddin Chowdhury. Dr M Mohiuddin, chief scientific officer of Breeder seed production center, presided over the function.
