Workshop on \\\'Wash in School\\\' Programme held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Apr 4 (BSS): A workshop organised by Rangpur Unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) on 'Wash in School' under Community-based Development Initiative (CDI) to WASH Programme was held here today.
The day-long workshop was arranged at the office of Rangpur Unit of BDRCS in the city with financial assistance of the Australian Red Cross and technical cooperation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
BDRCS has been implementing the CDI to WASH Programme for ensuring hygienic sanitation, pure drinking water and improved sewerage systems for 23,000 rural people, including 822 beneficiary families living in two backward communities in the district.
The school managing committee (SMC) members, headmasters and teachers of 14 schools from the working areas of the programme under Najirdigar Community-1 in Ward No-31 in the city and Padmapukur-Beramukim Community-2 of Imadpur union in Mithapukur upazila in the district participated in the workshop.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Mrs. Sultana Parveen attended the workshop as the chief guest with Rangpur unit Secretary of BDRCS Shah Mohammad Nabiullah Panna in the chair.
Executive Committee Members of Rangpur unit of BDRCS Ariful Kabir Batul and Faruk Ahmed attended the workshop as the special guests.
Director of the Community Development Division of the BDRCS from its Dhaka headquarters Nazmul Azam Khan, its Programme Coordinator Keramat Ali and Programme Monitoring Officer of IFRC Shakhawat Hossain were present.
