JESSORE, Mar 18: AAPI Walmart Foundation organised a workshop on empowerment of women through vegetable productivity improvement held at the conference room of deputy commissioner, Jessore Tuesday. Department of Agricultural Extension, Jessore extended its support to hold the workshop.
The workshop was informed that a total of 38 villages under Bagharpara, Chaugachha, Jhikargachha and Jessore Sadar Upazila were taken under women empowerment programme in which a total of 40,000 women farmers were being trained introducing them with modern technologies. 'To enhance rural women's empowerment by increasing their capacity to produce and market horticultural crops and to increase their families' security status the project is being implemented with the help of Department of Agricultural Extension.
Mostafizur Rahman, deputy commissioner, Jessore, was the chief guest in the workshop. Chaired by Sheikh Hemayet Hossain, deputy director, department agriculture extension, Jessore, the workshop was attended among others by Ishrat Jahan, resident representative, IFDC, Bangladesh, Kausar Parvin, district women affairs officer, Jessore, Nahid Sultana, gender specialist, AAPI Walmart Foundation, Tanjina Tahsin, training officer, Afroza Khan, field supervisor and Bonna Sikder, field monitoring officer.
Female farmers, agriculturists, journalists and people of related fields took part in the workshop.
