FARIDPUR, June 6 (BSS): Speakers at a seminar held Friday in the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) stressed the need for management of human wastes in more scientific way to conserve our degrading environment due to several global and local reasons.
The seminar organised jointly by Faridpur District Administration and Environment Directorate in connection with the observance of "World Environment Day" was chaired by ADC (Gen) Md Abdur Rashid.
Md Saikhullah Talukdar, Deputy Director of Environment Directorate, presented the keynote paper on power point about this year's theme "Seven Billions Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care".
In the keynote paper a pen-picture of country's environmental situation and some suggestions to conserve the staggering eco-system was mentioned.
Pointing out the problems of country's environment situation speakers said that population explosion, drying up of water bodies, rivers, canals, unplanned urbanization and poor waste management are contributing for the degradation.
In Narsingdi, a discussion meeting was held at the Shilpakala Academy here Friday on the occasion of the World Environment Day. Organised by the District Administration and Department of Environment Narsingdi, the discussion was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Suriaya Begum.
Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman attended the meeting as chief guest while Police super Amena Begum (BPM) and Executive Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) Helal Ahmed were present as special guests.
Our correspondent adds from Magura: World Environment Day 2015 was observed in Magura on Friday. Non-government organisation Rova Foundation organised different programmes to observe the day. They brought out a rally in the town in the morning. They arranged a discussion meeting at their office premises with Rova Foundation Executive Director Kazi Kamruzzaman in the chair.
