World Vision provides 100 cows to poor Nilphamari women

NILPHAMARI, Mar 24: World Vision, an NGO, provided 100 cows free of cost to 100 women of the hardcore poor families of Nilphamari. The mothers are of the poor students of Nilphamari municipality area. The recipient families are short-listed by the organisation itself

The motive of the venture of the organization is manifold that include to enable womenfolk of the society to become self reliant, generate income in the family and enable their children to prosecute their studies properly and without any hindrance.

Held in Khukhapara Junior High School yesterday and presided over by Head Master of the school Ataur Rahman, the occasion was attended by sadar upazila animal husbandry officer Abdul Kader, area manager of World Vision Nilphamari Arabindo Silvestor, President of Development committee of Nilphamari municipality Fazlur Rahman, Livelihood Program Officer of World Vision Dominic Reberu and others.

Speaking on the occasion program officer of World Vision Dominic Reberu said till date their organisation provided financial support to around 10,000 school going children in the district. He said they are also distributing study tools, mosquito nets to the ultra poor students.

He mentioned the beneficiaries would also be imparted training in rearing domestic animals in phases.

While contacted one recipient mother Ayesha Begum said the lactating cow would enable her family to come out of poverty trap and she would take care of the cow properly not only for the financial benefit of her family but also for the education for the children.
