Youth killed as bomb goes off in Jessore

BENAPOLE, June 7 (UNB): A young man was killed as a hand bomb exploded while he was carrying it at Hamidpur village in Sadar upazila of Jessore district early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Firoz Hossain (26), son of late Idris Ali of the village. Officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Model Police Station Akkas Ali said Firoz was carrying the bomb for taking preparation to carry out subversive activities in the area at about 12:30 am, which exploded leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Firoz was wanted in several cases, the OC added. Police arrested one of his associates in connection with the bomb blast. A case was filed.
