Youth stabbed to death by brother-in-law

NARAYANGANJ, Apr 15 (UNB): A young man was stabbed to death allegedly by his brother-in-law at Nabiganj Kushiara in Bandar upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Rakib Hossain, 20, a boatman and son of Jakir Hossain of the area.

Police said Rakib's sister Rajani was married off to Jasim several years ago. Since the marriage, Jasim and his family members used to torture Rajani for dowry.

On Tuesday, Rajani along with Jasim went to her father's house where Rakib picked a quarrel with his brother-in-law over the issue at about 1:30 pm.

At one stage, Jasim stabbed Rakib indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Later, he died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, locals caught Jasim and handed him over to police.
