GAIBANDHA, Jun 24 (BSS): A total of 75 farmers of Sadar, Sadullapur and Sundarganj upazilas of district got zinc enriched seeds of Aman paddy BRRI Dhan-62 from RDRS Bangladesh on Tuesday free of cost.
Deputy Director (DD) of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Mir Abdur Razzak distributed the seeds among the farmers as the chief guest at a function while district correspondent of National News Agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman was present as the special guest.
With programme manager of RDRS Bangladesh Porsia Rahman in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by assistant agriculture officer of the organisation Saiful Islam and representative of Harvest plus Bangladesh Ruhul Amin Mondal.
Speaking on the occasion DD said this variety would help significantly remove the deficit of zinc that was very essential for human body.
In this context, he urged the farmers to expand the farming of the variety to a great extent and to nurture it properly in a bid to get desired output from the high value crop and to attain the cherished goal as well.
