12 women die on Indian maternity ward

JODHPUR, (India), Feb 25: Twelve women have died shortly after giving birth in an Indian state hospital, sparking a police investigation into contaminated intravenous fluids, doctors and police said Friday. Another three pregnant women who received drips at Umaid Hospital in the city of Jodhpur are in intensive care in a scandal that highlights the often poor standards of state-run health facilities in India. -AFP
