2 Danish soldiers killed, Taliban spokesman held

COPENHAGEN, SEPT 27 (AP): Two Danish soldiers were killed and a third was injured in a gun battle with Taliban fighters in southern Afghanistan, Denmark's military said Thursday.
The firefight happened Wednesday in Upper Geresk Valley in Helmand province, the Army Operational Command said.
The battle lasted for several hours before the Danish troops received support from attack helicopters. No other details were immediately available.
The main spokesman for the extremist Taliban movement, Yousuf Ahmadi, has been arrested in southern Afghanistan, the interior ministry said Thursday.
Ahmadi was arrested with his brother Wednesday in volatile Helmand province, where the Taliban are in control of several districts, the ministry said in a statement.
Two foreign employees of the International Red Cross have been abducted in southern Afghanistan by unknown kidnappers, a provincial police chief said Thursday.
