74-year-old Briton charged with sex abuse of Thai boy

BANGKOK, Oct 24 (AFP): A 74-year-old British man has been charged with sexually abusing a Thai boy in the resort of Pattaya after he was found with more than 100 albums of pictures of nude children, police said Wednesday.
Alan Charles Mawson was arrested Tuesday at his home in the seaside town, 150 kilometres (90 miles) southeast of Bangkok, police said, adding he denies the charges.
"Although he has denied the charges during preliminary questioning, we have solid evidence and testimony from a plaintiff. We are confident that we can prosecute him," said Suwan Aun-anan, commander of tourist police in Pattaya.
A court approved an arrest warrant for Mawson based on testimony from a boy who had complained to police, Suwan said.
When police raided Mawson's apartment, they uncovered 104 albums containing photographs of naked children as well as a variety of pornographic materials and cameras, he said.
