A minister\\\'s ill-timed statement

May 11, 2014 00:00:00

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya has issued a statement claiming that none of his family members was involvement in the abduction of killing of seven persons in Narayanganj. It was an ill timed statement because the matter is under investigation and if his family members are innocent, he should not be worried about it. He should have kept faith on the law-enforcement agencies. As a member of the ruling party, he doesn't need to worry about his family members being wrongly accused; rather the common people fear that he might have tried to influence the investigation. His statement claiming his innocence as the incumbent minister brings nothing but confusion in the mind of the common people. In our country, if anything bad happens, the ruling party leaders start making statements blaming the opposition. Such remarks may affect the outcome of an investigation as the investigators may feel pressure which may misdirect the investigation. We hope the seven-murder case will be solved soon and the perpetrators will face maximum punishment for their heinous crime.
