A time to relish the mangoes
May 10, 2015 00:00:00
Summer is my favourite season as we can enjoy many kinds of mouth-watering summer fruits during this season. Children also enjoy it as they get a long summer vacation. Often their parents take them to their respective villages where children can spend their vacation time merrily.
But summer for Dhaka city-dwellers is tough as they experience acute power and water crises frequently. Demand for power naturally goes up during summer. From the consumer side, we should not misuse power during this time and instead save it as much as possible.
Mango is my most favourite fruit. Nothing can beat the taste of a sweet mango in this sweltering heat. Litchis are also palatable, but these are available for only a short period. Their prices too are out of reach for the common people.
It is true that summer presents us a series of mouth-watering fruits, but at the same time we often we fall sick due to excessive heat. We should therefore be careful about summer hazards. We should drink water adequately and stay away from direct sunlight as much as possible.
I hope, the government will ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the current summer and make the lives of citizens easy and comfortable.
